CBC Charities began in 2001 as the employees and friends of Continental Building Company created a lasting tribute to the son of a fellow employee. In 2001 The Tyler Ludwig Scholarship was created and today it continues to serve young people interested in education in a construction related field. The scholarship is awarded through The Builders Exchange Foundation (of Central Ohio) and currently awards the successful student with a $1,000 scholarship and is renewable each year as long as the student maintains certain criteria. If you are interested in applying for The Tyler Ludwig Scholarship you may obtain an application form through The Builders Exchange Foundation.
In 2004, CBC Charities wanted to expand its’ charitable focus so we created an employee based charity committee and defined our primary purpose as: to provide for the care and education of our youth.
With this in mind, we established the CBC Charities scholarship fund that is housed at The Columbus Foundation. In 2006, we began to award a $1,000 scholarship each year to a graduating high school senior that is enrolling in a four-year college or university. This scholarship is renewable for four years as long as the student meets certain criteria. We accept scholarship applications from high school seniors from the Central Ohio, Greater Pittsburgh and Cleveland, OH areas. As of 2016, we changed our award amount to $2,000 per year for our scholarship recipients, making it an overall gift of $8,000 per student provided they stay in school for four years.
